- So why are we arguing about this?
- Well I guess that is the result of gender norms.
- Yeah, Tiktok too, They have been heavily projecting these norms on that platform, it's taking a toll on the youth.
- Jenny McDermott startedthat kill all men trend and others continued it. I find it painfully unsettling that people can seriosuly suggest mass genocide towards a certain gender and the children of it. It projects the image that all men are bad and children if exposed to that concept will grow up believing that they are automatically bad people.
- Yeah it's honestly sickening. The perpetuated stereotyping has allowed for these derogatory insults to be nonchalantly tossed around. Studies have actually shown that women are taking on more "male" roles such as firefighters and men are taking on more "female" roles such as middle school teaching and nursing.
- The 1900s created the stereotypes that men have to work and bring home the money while women are to do domestic work such as cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, taking care of the man or kids, etc.
- I've seen countless of jokes on Tiktok saying "Make me a sandwich" that would come from the role given to women as stay at home wives to provide food for them.
- I have also seen many girls dancing on tiktok and getting hateful comments stating "This is why I don't want a daughter" it's projecting the image that any dance that a girl does is deemed undecent and frowned upon.
- Yes I have also seen some of those comments as well. I also have seen boys do similar dances but do not recieve criticism as harshly as girls. They are still subject to shaming although, i've seen comments saying that they are not acting how a man should. Just another result of gender stereotypes. Society has to stop this gender war, it's completely unnecessary.
- Yes I agree, we should let the world know about this issue and with awareness we can reach many other people and show them the light of the situation and how pointless it is. Men and women share equal importance so there is no need degrade each other.
- Yeah we have to put an end to this. I thnk I may know how. We should talk to children and inform them that they are not limited to what others or should I say society thinks they should be.
