Rochambeau was born July 1st, 1725 in Vendome, France
Rochambeau's full name is Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau
He was originally trained for church, but he entered a cavalry regiment instead
Rochambeau fought in the War of Austrian Succession where he earned the title of colonel
19 years after becoming a colonel and 4 years after being appointed general of the French Army. Rochambeau and his troops arrived at Newport, Rhode Island in 1780
Rochambeau and his army met and joined up with Washington and the colonial army in White Field, New York in June of 1781.
From there the two armies combined into 1 marched towards Yorktown, Virginia. The army lead under Marquis de Lafayette started harassing the British. Eventually with help from french naval support, the two armies cornered Lord Cornwallis and his army. On October 19, 1781 Cornwallis and the British surrendered.
