The main characters are Pheenix Jackson, the hunter, and the nurse. Pheenix is an old woman who is determined to get the meds for her grandson that is very needed The hunter is a very generous man who stops what he is doing to help Pheenix out of a ditch that she fell in. And the nurse is a very kind woman who is interested in what Pheenix has to say
The story takes place in the 1900s in pinewoods on December morning. There is a worn path that she has to follow to solve her problem. The only thing driving her is determination and passion for her grandson.
The main conflict is Pheenix's grandson needs medicine to keep him alive. But, the only way to get those meds is to travel through the worn path in the pinewoods. The weather is freezing and the woods are infested with many animals and Pheenix has to travel through it all to keep her grandson alive.
Pheenix stumbles along the way and at one point falls in a ditch. But her will and determination pushes her to make is to the hospital to get the medicine. She makes it back home with a few scratches and bruises, but nothing serious and her grandson gets his medicine and lives.
The mood of the story is sympathy, but struggling at the same time. Personally, I predicted the story would have a happy ending. I wasn't surprised or anything of that sort. The story was kind boring and predictable, so I didn't enjoy it very much.
