Storyboard Text

  • Exposition: The three priest discuss the return of the Archbishop, Thomas Becket, after 7 years. They wonder if Thomas made peace with the king.
  • Rising Action: Thomas is confronted by four tempters. They offer him comfort and power with or without the King. He refuses. Thomas submits to God and delivers his final sermon.
  • Rising Action: Four knights confront and accuse Thomas of betraying the King. They demand he recant his excommunications. He refuses again.
  • Climax: The four knights kill Thomas. He faces death with a martyr's serenity.
  • Falling Action: The knights make excuses for the murder. They claim to do it out of loyalty to the King.
  • Resolution: The priest and the chorus mourn Thomas.
