In 264 BC the Carthaginians and the Romans clashed. The war lasted 23 years. The Romans attacked by ship. The Romans also had a Corvus so they could get from one ship to the other.And in the end the Romans won.
In the second Punic war in 218 BC the Carthaginians surprised the Romans by marching from Spain to Gaul. They brought elephants with them too. They roamed around because they had no supplies for 15 years, then finally the Romans took over Zama and won the war.
In the 3rd Punic war 50 years later, the Romans attacked poured salt into fields so crops wouldn't grow and burned the city to the ground. And those still living after all that were killed or sold into slavery.
