Chase Ambrose loves to sit on his roof. One day he fell of his roof, hit his head, and lost all of his memory. "The grass is far away - until it isn't anymore. Somebody screams." (p.1)
He wakes up in a hospital room and cannot remember who his mother is or his name. A doctor tells him he has amnesia.
Chase, I am sorry to say that you've been diagnosed with amnesia.
"So how come I remember a random word like that but I can't remember my name?" (p.4)
When Chase goes back to school, he learns that he used to be a bully. One major event was in the cafeteria when he sat with Brendan Espinoza and Brendan was scared, then Chase's friends, Aaron and Bear from before the amnesia bully Brendan and force Chase to sit with them. Another example would be when Chase tries to help a girl and she runs away scared.

Brendan starts to think Chase is friendly and different and asks for his help shooting a video. They had so much fun, Brendan asked Chase to join Video Club. This gives Chase a chance to make new friends, like Shoshanna Weber, whose brother, Joel, Chase tormented, and to lose his old friends that are bullies. This gives people opportunities to see that Chase has changed.
"What have you got in mind?" (p.46)
"I'm shooting this video to put up on YouTube, but I need a wingman. Can you help me out?" (p.46)
Chase learns that he stole Mr. Solways medal before falling off of the roof. He was so ashamed, he confessed and was arrested and on trial for the theft. Mr. Solway drops all of the charges, because he believes Chase changed. Not only does Chase recognize that he is different, so does the once grumpy Mr. Solway. Chase had a change to make up for something wrong he did in the past.

"Chase didn't steal my medal. I loaned it to him." (p. 236)
