She is the oldest and tallest of five children. Her mother works in the school district and her father works for the IRS.
Monica is heavily involved in many extracurricular programs such as serving as her class's vice president, a peer counselor, the treasurer for the Young Republicans, is a starter on the track team, and volunteers as a Sunday school teacher at her church.
In addition to those activities, Monica used to work at the mall, but stopped to focus on school. She now helps babysit for her extended family, but does not get paid because it is considered a family favor.
She likes to stay busy but finds it difficult to keep up her grades. College acceptance letters are coming out soon and she is nervous about not getting into college.
Her dream school is Howard University because she wants to surround herself with other black students. She hopes to receive a scholarship so she will have enough money to go to school from what she has saved from working over the years.
