A long time ago in Mesopotamia, there was a ruler called Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh treated his people very poorly. His people prayed to the sky god Anu for help. Anu then resorted to the goddess Aruru for help. Aruru created a beast like man named Enkidu.
Rejection and Anger
How dare you!
Gilgamesh and Enkidu didn't like each other at first, but then they became best friends. They both loved adventuring. Then one day they decided to go kill the demon Humbaba who lives inside the Cedar Forest.
Punishment for Enkidu
Gilgamesh and Enkidu traveled to the Cedar Forest. There they found the demon Humbaba who they wanted to fight. Humbaba was almost victorius, but Gilgamesh prayed to the sun god for help. Gilgamesh and Enkidu defeated Humbaba.
The goddess of love fell in love with Gilgamesh, but Gilgamesh turned her away and teased her. After this the goddess of love got angry and wanted revenge. She sent the Bull of Heaven to destroy Gilgamesh and his city.
I'am not marrying you.
Gilgamesh and Enkidu teamed up and killed the Bull of Heaven. Enkidu got sick afterwards. This was his punishment for killing the bull of heaven. Gilgamesh was forgiven, since he was part god. Enkidu soon died and Gilgamesh didn't want to die himself, so he went searching for immortality.
Unfortunately for Gilgamesh he could not achieve immortality. He realized that he doesn't need to be immortal. Instead he left behind a great civilization.
