Storyboard Text

  • I am sorry to inform you that your son, William, has tubercular arthritis, a  disease that will slowly deteriorate his bones and one day he will lose one or both legs.
  • I'm only 12! The rest of my life is ruined....
  • No! I am not going to let this ruin everything! I am alive, and I am going to make the most of it!
  • Out of the night that covers me,
  • I may only have one leg, but I can still do lots of things. My life can still be amazing!
  •       Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
  • But what if I die?!?! I want to get married, have kids, be a famous writer....
  • Well, everyone dies so I am going to just going to live my life.
  • I thank whatever gods may be        For my unconquerable soul.
  • First, I would like to thank God for giving me the talent to write. My wife and children for their love and support.
  • In the fell clutch of circumstance  I have not winced nor cried aloud.  Under the bludgeonings of chance  My head is bloody, but unbowed.
  • Beyond this place of wrath and tears        Looms but the Horror of the shade,  And yet the menace of the years        Finds and shall find me unafraid.
  • It matters not how strait the gate,  How charged with punishments the scroll,  I am the master of my fate,  I am the captain of my soul.
