  • Every idiot who goes about with Merry Christmas on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart.

  • Internal Conflict
  • The chains of Jacob Marley show symbolism because they represent the mistakes and bad choices that he made when he was alive. He comes back to warn Scrooge that if he keeps acting that way, his regrets that he made will haunt him in the afterlife.
  • Theme
  • Poor decisions may haunt you forever.
  • Go away!
  • Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
  • This show indirect characterization because Scrooge tries to ruin the Christmas spirit for his very cheerful nephew, which shows that he is a very rude cold-hearted person.
  • Symbolism
  • It lights up the events that have happened in your past.
  • Scrooge's internal conflict is that he is very lonely when he was a child. The other kids would always exclude him and he would suffer and be neglected with no friends. "A solitary child, neglected by his friends, is left there still" (634).
  • Indirect Characterization
  • "Scrooge had a very small fie but the clerks fire was so much smaller that it looked like one coal".
  • The theme is poor decisions may haunt you forever because Scrooge kept making bad choices, so Marley came to explain to him that his decisions in life haunted him in the afterlife, so if he keeps doing bad stuff, than he will be haunted by it later. A boy went Christmas caroling at his house and he came off as rude to the kid because he hates the Chritmas spirit.
  • The light on the Ghost of Christmas Past has a light on it's head. It symbolizes lightening up Scrooge's past. The Ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge around and brings him to his very sad memories in the past. The light lights up the past and shows how Scrooge used to be.
  • What is the light on your head used for?
  • Scrooge kept the coalbox in his room for himself only which shows that he is a greedy, selfish person. This left his clerk Bob cold and alone.
