Storyboard Text

  • The Lost Generation is a term used for the post WW1 writers including Ernest Hemingway and Hart Crane.
  • Lets go to Paris and write about the War
  • Yeah we can drink wine and eat bread all day
  • They were "Lost" because they were "emotionally barren" and displayed none of the previous generations moral values.
  •  This war is  losing all of our men.
  • At least we are not on the battlefield.
  • Lets charges the Germans and go back  home!!!
  • The war was so horrific with its gas attacks and bombings that many of the surviving participants felt that their life had no purpose, they were "lost" in life.
  • We are going to lose anyway
  • The Lost Generation represented the lasting effects of the war on everyone that it touched. This generations significance was that they started a culture of materialism and lack of belief in abstract concepts.
  • We have lost a generation of the future. I need to write to US citizens to reveal war has no winner
  • Writers portrayed this new mentality in their novels; such as The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway and The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald. For example Gatsby's lavish parties represented the new materialistic values.
  • I am a killer and do not deserve to be here.  Why did I have to survive? My life has no purpose
  • Wow, I did not realize how much war changes a man
  • The Lost Generation also destroyed traditional gender roles as many men were rendered incapable of work because of the war. Also with the new realization of what war really represented many men lost their image of masculinity.
  • War has ruined my life. I have no one and it was no worth the killing.
