  • Initial Dialogue or Event
  • "Who...who are you?' Christopher gasped. 'Where are you?'" (p.40)
  • Propels the Action By
  • "'My name is Jumar'", a voice replied out of the air. 'And I would have thought you just figured out where I am. Hold out your hand.'" (p.40)
  • Outcome
  • "'I'm on my way,' said Jumar, 'to find the insurgents camp. And you're on your brother. So maybe that comes to the same thing. Why don't we travel together.'" (p.45)
  • Christopher hears a voice calling for help, but when he goes to see who was calling, he did not see anything.
  • Initial Dialogue Or Event
  • "'We in the mountains, the girl finished, we need you. The Great T. - and I don't have to tell you about him. He needs you...Tonight, when the moon rises, we'll be waiting for you up on the northern slope'" (p.194)
  • The voice introduced himself as Jumar, the invisible crown prince. He was stuck in a bear trap and wanted Christopher to help. To prove it, he had Christopher touch his face.
  • Propels the Action By
  • "The rider was beside him and he was enveloped in a cloud of dust and someone ordered from behind him 'Get up on it.'" (p.201)
  • Jumar and Christopher end up traveling together to various places to both get what they want. They go through many hardships, like dragons, armies, and Maoists together.
  • Outcome
  • "'We? You mean you'll help me?'" (p.270)
  • Jumar and Christopher went to a village where they saw a girl, named Niya, in camouflage clothing talking to the people and trying to recruit them for the Maoists.
  • The army, led by Karten, was after Jumar and believing that Christopher was him, they chased him, with Jumar still next to Christopher as he ran. Then as he was runnning, the Maoist Niya comes up from behind them on a horse and tells them to get on.
  • Niya, after realizing the Maoists were not gonna do what she thought they were, the three of them escaped from the Maoists and go off together. Niya helps both Jumar and Christopher achieve their goals and keeps them on their feet when they are doubting or not feeling good about themselves.
  • "'You can rely on me for that'" (p.270)
