Cathy Queen of Cats
The Monkey Garden
And Some More
Cathy who lives upstairs next to Joe the baby grabber is a queen of cats. She has baby cats, skinny cats, big cats. "Her house is like cat heaven" (Cisneros 13). This is simile because it uses the word "like" and it describes what's it like.
The monkey doesn't live there anymore. The green metal cage, family, and the table were all gone. "There were sunflowers big as flowers on mars" (Cisneros 34). This is simile because it uses the word "as" and it is being compared.
Lucy, Rachel, Nenny, and Esperanza were talking about snow and clouds. "There are two kinds of snow, " says Lucy. "Dirty and clean." "There are million zillion kinds," says Nenny (Cisneros 35). This is hyperbole because we can't count the snow so they exasperate the number of snow.
