The women working in the ford factory are labelled as unskilled workers and are given a lower pay rate. They are demanding to be paid the higher rate of skilled workers. As they are being paid less the women are demotivated and unsatisfied leading to them taking industrial action against the company by initiating a ban on over time.
The ban on overtime had little effect so the women then went on to do a 24 hour strike demanding to get skilled worker pay. The women protested using banners and no working to gain the attention of the bosses at ford to get a higher pay rate.
The 24 hour strike only had a small impact and the women were dismissed, this made them take further action by going on a full strike until they got equal pay as men rather than settling for skilled worker pay. They then went on to travel around the UK to different locations convincing the women in the factories to go on strike to gain equal pay.
