Storyboard Text

  • My Mother was a teacher herself and she taught me how to read and write at a young age. When I was younger, she would always read to me.
  • Each summer, my Mom would always want me to read at least 3 books to keep myself busy.
  • One summer, she enrolled me in the library AR book program where I would get prizes and medals for how many books I read over the summer.
  • I remember crying in my room because I didn't think I was able to finish all of my books
  • A lot of my friends were in the same book program and they were telling me how many books they read so far.
  • I realized that I was really far behind everyone and I wasn't the fastest reader.
  • She also told me that it doesn't matter how fast you read something. The important part is the takeway from the story you read.
  • My Mother noticed how down and stressed I was and told me that everyone has their own pace while reading.
  • My Mother's comment sticks to me today whenever I read.
