I am going to divorce you because you won't have a male heir!
Dear Pope, I want to get a divorce....
King Henry VIII is the King of England in the 16th Century. He was one of the main English reformers. He was born in 1491. King Henry was King from 1509-1547.
Here is a book you might like Henry.
Thank you, Anne.
King Henry wanted to get divorced from his wife Catherine of Aragon because she would not have a male heir.
Henry wrote a letter to the pope of the Roman Catholic Church in asking for a divorce but the pope denied.
Anne Boyelyn, the king's mistress then came up to him one night and gave him a forbidden book speaking of other religions. King Henry then realised to get divorced with Catherine he was going to split from the Roman Catholic church and make his own, the Church of England.
He made his own church, the Church of England in England and divorced Catherine. He married Anne, in hope she would give him a male heir.
Since Anne failed to have a male heir he put her to death and remarried 4 times only having 1 son.
