Before the French revolution people were in the streets begging. There were many beggars that could barely afford bread. Some people resorted to stealing to stay alive in this time of chaos.
Meanwhile... The king and queen of France, flourished without any recognition of what was going on outside of their castle. The people were angry because the king and queen spent tons of money for themselves and purchased prized jewels and fancy clothing.
The people were angry, hungry, and fed up at the monarchs because they weren't protecting them. The controversy brought the people together because they all had the same problems. These united people lead to the beginning of the French Revolution and the struggles to come.
