  • Ok class today we will be learning about the war of 1812.
  • War of 1812
  • As the British gathered in the distance, Dolley Madison left their personal items and grabbed the full length portrait of General Washington.
  • British soldiers entered Washington, D.C. and burned the white house in retaliation for American attack in Ontario causing the reason Dolley fled.
  • The final battle was on January 8th 1815.
  • More soldiers died during the War of 1812 from disease than from battle. Both Britain and the United States spent approximately $105 million on the War of 1812.
  • Facts about the flag: 1.Each star is about 2 feet across. 2.Stripes are made of wool. 3.stars are made of cotton. 4.The flag has been repaired many times. 5.The canton is made of wool dyed with indigo.
