  • Nationalist vs Communist
  • There was a rebellion and fight against the Qing. Many Provinces left and formed a Republic putting Sun Yat-Sen and Yuan ShiKai in control as presidents.
  • Chinese Civil War
  • On May 4, 1919, students led a revolt in order to re-unify China. They brought up nationalists and communist ideas.
  • Long March
  • Sun created a Nationalist party but wanted to have unity between his party and the communist party. He went to Soviet advisors who helped reunite China.
  • Japanese Invasion
  • Communists and Nationalists began to split and there were uprisings. The two parties fought for total power.
  • The Communists failed in the cities, so they fled. They traveled thousands of miles north in order to set up their own communism there without fear of attack by Nationalist's
  • The Japanese' invasion of China stopped the hostility between the two parties. They agreed that they needed to work together in order to stop Japan.
