Storyboard Text

  • I started my rebellion in 1786. My hopes were to have us farmers join together to stop the unfair justice of economic depression and high taxes.
  • I joined the rebellion to stop high taxes burdening all of us poor farmers. I have a family AND a farm to take care of.
  • I'm protesting because I want well-deserved protective legislation.
  • I'm protesting because I believe that taxes should be levied.
  • I am joining Shays to stop the government from taking advantage of the poor.
  • I, the amazing James Bowdoin, have stopped Shays' weak militia with my well-trained army. No one will tell me how this country will be run.
  • Shay's rebellion has shown us the faults in our government. We voters voted against Bowdoin in the next election to stop his tyrannical ways and high taxes.
  • Thanks to Shays rebellion, I have seen the faults in the Articles and our country's government. This encouraged me to draft the Constitution.
