  • Quanah decided to remain on a warpath, dodging the army and continuing raids on Texas and Mexico.
  • In 1874, Quanah Parker was almost killed during the attack on the buffalo hunters in the Adobe Walls on the Texas Panhandle.
  • In the Red River Campaign, Quanah's allies became weary and hungry, and Colonel Mackenzie sent Jacob J. Sturm to try to persuade Quanah to surrender. 
  • Later on, Quanah ended up surrendering because he saw a wolf come to him, howl, and walk away in the northeast direction, and then saw an eagle whip its wings toward Fort Sill and took these as signs to surrender.
