Storyboard Text

  • Hey Marley, how was your shift?
  • Slow today Rob, not much activity. How's this manhole coming along?
  • We're almost done, but I could use your help with some of the calculations. I need to know the arc length of one section and the area of that arc. Think you could help?
  • Of course! Just give me the measurements and I'll give it a shot.
  • Well, the radius is one half of a meter and I'm trying to find a 60 degree section.
  • Well since you've already got the measurements I'll get to calculating!
  • If 60 degrees is equal to (pi/3) radians, and we apply the formulas S=rθ for the arc length and A=1/2θr²...
  • Then the arc length would be .5236 of a meter and the area would be .1309 meters squared!
  • Precisely. Good job Rob, looking forward to seeing this manhole project done!
  • So am I Marley. Thanks for the help! See you tomorrow.
  • Alright Rob, see you tomorrow.
