  • Uighurs are a group of Salim Muslims. They mostly occupy the Xinjiang province which holds over 10 million Uighurs. The leader of the Xinjiang province is a strict and powerful Communist party boss, Chen Quanguo.

  • Uighurs protested because of their treatment from the Chinese government and on July 5th, 2009 they rioted. The government responded by opening fire on the people.
  • We want rights!
  • After the riots, the Chinese government cracked down on all Uighurs by arresting and placing them in concentration-like camps called internment camps.
  • Rules: Love and thank our leader Chen Quanguo Give up your religion FORGET ABOUT YOUR PAST! THIS IS YOUR FUTURE.
  • In the camps, Millions of Uighurs were put in “re-education” camps.
  • “...[C]ombating religious extremism and maintaining social stability...”
  • When questioned about the camps, China denies their existence saying they are 
  • As of now, the U.N. has criticized China over their treatment to the Uighurs. China continues to deny allegations while nothing has been done to help the people.
