Storyboard Text

  • Battle Moutnain, Nevada. The family begins to experience poverty
  • Mom, we don't have any food.
  • The father of the family, Rex Walls, loses his job.
  • It is not my fault if you're hungry!
  • The Walls family moves to Welch, WV where Rex Walls, the father, once lived.
  • I can't stand it here! I'm moving to New York to get a better future for myself.
  • The living conditions were worse in Welch. No heat, no indoor plumbing, and the house has one bedroom.
  • Goodbye Dad, i'm going to New York to become a journalist. I am ready to take charge of my own ife.
  • Jeannette leaves to go join her sister Lori in New York City.
  • Jeanette got a job as a journalist while attending an Ivy League school to get her education.
  • Scholarships and grants covered most of my tuition. I still work on the side to help pay for it.
  • Oh no! The car broke down...
  • Rex and Rose Mary Walls move to NYC to be back as a family. The children offer to house them, but they refuse and end up homeless.
  • Rex Walls passed away and the family fell apart. The family finally reunites with Jeannette, her husband John, Rose Mary, Brian (the brother), and Lori (the sister).
  • The family enjoys each others company. They talked about the life behind them and look back on how their hardships in life made them able to be strong and become who they are today.
