  • Nick goes to Tom and Daisey Buchannan's house in East Egg for dinner. Daisey's old friend Jordan Baker is also there because she is in a golf tournament.
  • Rising Action
  • The next day, Tom and Nick go into the city to go to Nick's apartment. They meet up with Tom's mistress, Myrtle, Myrtle's sister catherine, and the Mckees and have an impromptu party at Tom's apartment in the city.
  • Climax
  • Later, Nick gets an invitation to his mysterious neighbor, Gatsby's party. At the prestigious party, Jordan Baker and Nick unkowingly meet Jay Gatsby. He later asks Jordan to have Nick set him up with Daisey because they had dated years ago.
  • Falling Action
  • Nick, Daisey, and Gatsby are all at Nick's house for tea. At first it is extremely awkward for Gatsby and Daisey, but eventually Nick leaves them alone and when he comes back they were having a great time together. They secretly talk for some time.
  • Later, they go to the city. Tom, Nick, and Jordan drive in Gatsby's yellow car there, while Daisey and Gatsby take Tom's car. However, on the way back they switch cars and myrtle thinks she sees Tom driving the yellow car so she jumps out, but its actually Gatsby and Daisey and they hit her.
  • George Wilson, Myrtle Wilson's husband figured that whoever owned the yellow car must have been the lover that killed his wife. He knew it couldn't be Tom because he drove by the scene later, but eventually figured it was Gatsby. He came to his house in West Egg, shot him in his pool, then shot himself.
