As a president, George Washington succeeded in creating a national bank, making the US neutral, and using his power effectively, like how he shut down the farmers during the Whiskey Rebellion. He also signed important documents such as Jay's Treaty, which averted war with Britain.
While John Adams was president, A naval war with France began. The Jay Treaty resulted from France seeing the US tilt toward Britain. Adams sent a negotiating team to France to settle the dispute, an army was prepared, and the Alien and Sedation acts were passed.
The Louisiana Purchase was bought under Thomas Jefferson's presidency. This was a land deal that bought 828,000 square miles of territory from France. It doubled the size of the US at the time, and cost about $11,250,00.
