When Alonzo died in 1927, he was the richest African-American citizen in Atlanta
In 1878, Alonzo opened his first barber shop. This would eventually lead to him migrating to Atlanta to open another barber shop. This barber shop lead to a chain of barber shops around Atlanta. Him and his team were even credited with being the best barbers of the south.
