As soon Mark got home, instead of asking his mother he went and asked his dad. His father wasn't really useful as he thought but he at least got some information out of him. Stop his pocket money, no television for a fortnight such and such. Not the information Mark was hoping for but if he did kill someone he is aware of what will happen.
In school, Mark asked Mr McDonald Similar questions to things about Hitler and Annas story but not quite. He staring with a random question then gradually to Hitler related questions. He also didn't completely answer Marks questions which left him still wondering about Annas story.
Day by day, night by night, no one had really answered Marks question. He wanted the story to continue forever but each story has an ending. At least Anna was still continuing the story and willing to come earlier to do so. If she hadn't then Marks question would never be fulfilled.
Even early in the morning, Mark would constantly ask about Hitler. His mother protested that it was too early for answering questions. She said that not all German people thought Hitler was right, German was a totalitarian country. Meaning Hitler controlled the radio and the newspapers, so no one was allowed to say anything he didn't agree with.
As his mother pulled up to the bus stop, they see Ben waiting there for them. As mark got out of the car he thought why hadn't Ben stayed home just another couple of days. Anna still continued the story even with Ben there. At least Mark didn't interrupt as much.
The rain spluttered on the roof and oozed through the mud on the road. Mark asked what happened next. Anna shrugged and said that was it, it was the end. Mark bombarded Anna with questions. Where did she go then? Did they escape the Russians? What happened to the Schmidts? Did they find somewhere safe? Mark wanted more to the story, but there wassnt much left.
