Illinois Senator Kirstie Charles wants to do something to benefit the students in country.
These kids have been working so hard in school. I wish there is something we could do for them.
In Senator Charles campaign speech, she promised to help out children in schools. Small business owner Leroy Thompson gives her an idea that him and his buisness came up with
I think our students have been working so hard. I think we should give them free ice cream on Fridays
That's a good idea. I really want to reward these hard working kids
After writing up a bill, Senator Charles needs to bring it up to her house, the senate, and get their approval.
Bill: Give students free ice cream on fridays
I've written up a bill, now it's time to bring it to the senate!
Because Senator Charles is proposing a bill, she needs to get it approved by the senate. A simple majority vote is all that it will take to get it approved to go the House of Representatives. This would be the same process if it was introduced in the House of Representatives, except it would be passed to the senate.
Here is my Bill, and I need you guys to vote on it
I'm sorry, but I disagree.
The bill is sent to the opposite house and they vote in. They again only need a majority vote to pass t he bill so that it can be sent to the president so he or she can decide wether to approve it or veto it
If the president approves the bill, it will then become a law. However if he vetoes it will be sent to congress and they will have to agree on it wit ha 2/3rds majority. If they agree on it, it will be named a law by congressional override.
This is a good bill, and I think it is very beneficial for the students. I approve this Bill!
