- The conflict in Breadwinner is between the people and the Taliban. The Taliban just came and took over the government, while the people are forced to have all of these rules. (Ellis 15)

- The theme in Breadwinner is never to give up on yourself. (Ellis 63)
- The social issue is men vs. women. The Taliban think that women are bad and don't want them out in about so they put them in their houses and they can't get out. (Ellis 15)
- Her father is a symbol because she hopes that he will return. Also, he symbolizes that everybody has hardships, but you have to persevere and everything will be fine. (Ellis 63)
