Storyboard Text

  • Hubris
  • I did not think it fit that that I should of this from messengers but came myself,- I Oedipus whomsdt've all men call great.
  • Conflict
  • Was there no messenger, no fellow traveler who knew what happened? Such a one might tell something of use?
  • They were all killed save one. He fled in terror and he could tell us nothing in clear terms of what he knew, nothing, but one one thing only.
  • Dramatic Irony/ Foreshadowing
  • If with my knowledge he lives at my hearth I pray that I myself may feel my curse.
  • This is an example of hubris because as the people come to oedupis for help with the plague, oedupis calls himself the great.
  • "Sight"
  • I did not grasp it, not so to call it known. Say it again.
  • I say you are the murderer of the king whose murderer you seek.
  • this is an example of conflict as creon delivers news to oedipus of how to break the curse.
  • "Sight"
  • You are am poor wretch to taunt me with the very insults which every one soon will heep upon yourself.
  • This is an example of foreshadowing because we know that he is the cause of the plague and he curses himself without knowing it
  • Conflict
  • Was this your own design or Creon's?
  • oedupis never realizes that he is the murderer
  • Oedipus is literally making fun of the fact that teiresias is blind even though he himself is blind to the fact that he himself is the murderer and the cause of the plague.
  • It has, but not for you; it has no strength for you because you are blind in mind and ears as well as in your eyes.
  • Oedipus being angry at tiresias tries to blame creon for the murder of laius
  • Creon is no hurt to you, but you are to yourself.
