James I had believed in Divine Right of Kings which was him believing he didn't have to work with Parliament. After that there was tension starting between monarchy and parliament.
Im taking over!
Yay a new King!
In 1642 a war between the Cavaliers and the Roundheads. The Cavaliers had won the war. After that King Charles was beheaded in public.
Cromwell helped set up a military dictatorship. He ruled until death in 1658. After he died the army had restored the England Monarchy.
Bill of Rights
In 1660 Charles the II was crowned king. In 1685 James was then crowned. A group of English nobles encourage William of Orange to invade and take over.
James II had fled to France but realized he had little support from England. The revolution had ended with almost no bloodshed. In 1689 William and Mary accepted their offer to throne.
The Bill of Rights had started and laid down foundation for the constitutional monarchy. The monarchy and Parliament ruled together and and destroyed the Divine Rights of Kings.
