Storyboard Text

  • Hades (Pluto in Roman Mythology) was the god of the underworld. He lived among the dead. He was the brother of Zeus, The ruler of the gods. He ruled in agony in the place we call "Hell".
  • However, once spring was over, his captivating spouse came to rule as Empress. Persephone was her name and faint was her skin. She was beautiful but was miserable ruling amongst the lifeless.
  • Persephone was the most beautiful. She loved to collect flowers. Hades from the underworld was in love this maiden. He loved her so much that he went to Zeus to demand her. The agreement was a success.
  • She came across a beautiful flower planted by Hades. Hades took Persephone and brought her to the underworld. Demeter the great earth mother searched all over for her and fell in great dispair.
  • A famine so bad occurred that the gods had to take a stand. They had to return Persephone to Demeter. 
  • Out of joy, she ate 7 pomegranate seeds. The Faiths said that she had to stay with Hades for 7 months, but could return to her for the remaining 5. That is why the seasons happen.
