Hello and welcome to Nick explains science. Today we will be talking about Newtons 3 Laws of Motion.
Newtons first law states that: An object at rest or in motion will stay at rest or in motion unless acted on by an unbalanced net force.
This is shown when you have a glass of water, and sir the water with a knife it creates a vortex. When the knife is removed the vortex continues. However if you place the knife back in the cup the vortex will stop.
This shows that the water will remain in its current state of motion until interrupted by the knife.
WOW! Did Newton have any more laws?
Yes. Newtons second law states that Force = Mass * Acceleration. This means that a greater mass or acceleration will result in a greater force.
This is show when you have two snowballs of different sizes when dropped they will his the ground at the same time but the larger one will exert a grater impact force causing a larger snow explosion. As we can see, the larger snowball has a greater mass which resulted in a larger mess.
The Third Law of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
That was better than a snow ball fight. I can't wait to see the third law.
I will now demonstrate how when I hit this pool ball across the table into a group of pool balls the first ball will exert a force onto the others causing them to split and send the first ball back towards the point of origin.
