Laertes leaves from Denmark for Paris, after a touching goodbye from his sister, Ophelia and father, Polonius.
On the way to Paris, Laertes is capture by Robespierre, who insists on sending him to the guillotine, because he’s bored and could use a good beheading to brighten his mood.
Laertes is saved by the mysterious, and handsome, Scarlet Pimpernel.
On the run from Robespierre and his men, the Scarlet Pimpernel takes Laertes to his hideout, where they meet the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel.
Robespierre mounts a surprise attack on the Pimpernel hideout, the Pimpernel flees with Laertes, his mask is cut off in the escape and his identity is revealed to Laertes.
Later, as Laertes and the Pimpernel(now officially revealed to be Sir Percy Blakeney) escape to a dirty, sketchy market disguised as poor beggars, the two of them swap life stories, Percy confides in Laertes that he came out as gay to his wife, who promptly divorced him. Laertes confesses that he, too, feels that he might be gay, but didn’t want to tell anyone back home for fear that he might disappoint his father and his sister. The two share a passionate kiss.
