  • My name is good in the village! I will not have it said my name is soiled! Goody Proctor is a gossiping 
  • John Proctor decides to break off his affair with his young lover, Abigail Williams, she leads other local girls in an ritual to wish death upon his wife, Elizabeth. When the ritual is discovered, the girls are brought to trial. Accusations begin to fly, and a witch hunt starts. Before long, Elizabeth is suspected of witchcraft, and John's attempt to defend her only makes matters worse.

  • I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name?

Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!" (Proctor, Act 4, p. 133). John Proctor didn't want people to think bad of him and thought if there was anyway to go it be now in a good name.
  • There be no blush about my name.” (Abigail, Act 1 p. 11) Abigail dosen't want people to know about the affair between her and John Proctor.Or anything else about her name
  • A lot of big names like celebrities and politicians will do anything in there power to keep there reputation much like John proctor was willing to die for his reputation to remain where it was.
