  • Proteinoid Microspheres Hypothesis
  • Mr. Peterson can I present my project on the Proteinoid Microspheres Hypothesis?
  • Human Anatomy
  • Thank you Stacy for telling us about human anatomy.  Who would like to present next?
  • Ok Lilly you can begin your presentation!
  • Proteionid Microspheres - Spherical structures that are formed when a heated mixture of amino acid molecules are in the dry conditions that dissolves in water.
  • Microspheres have selectively permeable membranes through which water molecules can pass.
  • Microspheres also have a simple means of storing and releasing energy.
  • Microspheres are not cells, but they have some characteristics of living systems.
  • My fourth times Great Grandfather, Sidney W. Fox, created this hypothesis.  He was a biochemist who was responsible for discoveries on the origins of life.
  • I believe that proteinoid microspheres constitute of protocells that are a vital link between the primordial chemical environment and true living cells.  I think that amino acids, in these polymers, are not randomly arranged as I would expected.
  • I am a genius!  This is a life changing hypothesis that can be used in the future!
  • Only a few highly homogeneous, protein-like molecules are obtained with their amino acids arranged in a precisely ordered sequence. These compounds possess a detectable catalytic. These microspheres can multiply by division somewhat in the manner of true cells.
  • This is how Sidney did his experiment.
  • A mixture of pure, dry amino acids Heated at about 175° C for a limited time and boil water at 100° C Intense the heat then ceased Stir the mixture with hot water Insoluble material is removed by filtration When the aqueous solution cools, the mixture shall precipitate in the form of proteinoid microspheres View the different polymers of amino acids These microsphere reemble coccoid bacteria and other organisms
