  • 1969
  • Hey guys, I'm now working full time because we have increased our sales this year!
  • Hey Kitami, do you want to come down to Blue Ribbon in Oregon to talk about our bank situation.
  • 1970
  • Phil finds a new employee when he was teaching accounting, her name is Penelope Parks. Phil flies out to Japan to meet with Kitami (executive for Onitsuka), Phil gains a better relationship with Kitami.
  • Here at Nippon Rubber we make good quality shoes for you to sell at Blue Ribbon.
  • My employee Jeff Johnson came up with the brand name "Nike", so these shoes will represent that name so well.
  • Sales are set to reach $300,000 this year, so Phil quits his teaching to go full time at Blue Ribbon. Phil suspects something off with Onitsuka so he sets one of his Japan friends to spy on Onitsuka. Phil and Penelope are now married and have a baby boy.
  • These new Nike Waffle shoes are an amazing running shoe!
  • The bank wont lend Blue Ribbon the money they need, so now Phil is in a panic to get the money he needs. Phil is worried that Blue Ribbon is going down hill, so he invites Kitami to come down to the U.S.
  • Good idea.
  • I am going to file a suit for breach of contract against Blue Ribbon!
  • Onitsuka and Katami cannot be trusted so Phil has to find a replacement for Onitsuka. Phil goes to a shoe factory and creates a shoe that unfortunately falls apart in cold weather. Johnson comes up with the name "Nike". Phil meets with a factory called Nippon Rubber, and they create prototypes for Phil.
  • 1971
  • Blue Ribbon Announces Nike at the National Sporting Goods Association Show in Chicago. Onitsuka officially acquired Blue Ribbon hoping that Phil would sell his buisness. The Nike shoes ends up being an amazing investment, now the University of Oregon is wearing the Nike waffle shoes.
  • 1972
  • Nike is selling like crazy with $4.8 million in sales. Onitsuka files a suit for breach of contract, but Phil is confident that his team will fight through it.
