the peasants revolt was a war on the rich and nobility, the nobility were the second on the pyramid while the peasants were last. the peasants had very little say since they had three layers above them controlling them.
in the 1381, towns were still recovering from the black death, nobody was safe from the disease rich and poor died
wages weren't stable. once the wages started rise peasants were able to buy there own land and wanted to work their own land but obviously they werent able to work it because they had to work the nobility's land.
poll taxes caused outrage since peasants weren't payed enough as it was, peasants were sick of working for other people. these were the main reasons for the peasants revolt.
the public inspired by John Ball started to rebel against the king and John of Gaunt who was the one who raised the tax that time.
the peasants wanted more they wanted better pay , they wanted better living standards. they rebelled
the king made deals with the rebelers to stop the rebellion. some of the expectations were met but a few weeks later king richard the second dropped all his promises and started to go back to his old way. he killed the rebels leader
most of the leaders were hanged, the revolt seemed like a failure but the poll tax wasn't raised again until the 20th century, parliament stopped trying to control the wages, there were more men not tied to the land, and the fuedal system was slowly broken down.
