  • Mr. Salmon sits at his desk writing in his journal about a list of suspects relating to Susie's death and decides to call Detective Fenermen.
  • Persistence, Hope
  • "Instead, I watched him as he went to place a call to Len Fenermen(Sebold 68)".
  • Buckley goes to his father and Mr. Salmon notices that his son shares many of the same traits and characteristics as Susie.
  • Hope, Realization
  • "He would find his Susie now inside his young son(Sebold 54)".
  • Buckley keeps the monopoly piece that symbolized Susie in his room so he would remember where she was.

  • Lindsey Salmon going into her room and is being confronted by her distraught father. She finds comfort in herself and isn't willing to let others in.

  • Buckley is sitting in the church at Susie's funeral and has to accept the fact that Susie isn't coming back.
