As Allied troops crossed the Rhine River, Hitler knew his time in power was coming to an end. He told his military to take a stand and hold their ground at the river. Hitler refused to let them fall back which evidently turned out to be a major mistake. He decided to blow up all bridges that crossed the river with hopes it would slow the Allies.
By May of 1945, Hitler was aware his kingdom was crashing. Many of the concentration camps were being liberated and prisoners were freed. This, however, didn't erase the number of lives lost due to his horrid beliefs.
On April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler saw that all hope was lost to restore the land he had groomed to his perfection. Berlin was under attack and it would be moments before it fell. Surrounded by Allied forces, he knew his time was up. Adolf Hitler committed suicide in his bunker in Berlin. While the death of this man indirectly ended the war, there had been damage done that no would could ever repair. Adolf Hitler was a monster that will forever be remembered in the history of the world.
