Storyboard Description

Everyone struggles with parking. There are usually two types of people in a city during a weekday; those who live in the centre, and those who commute. The latter have large problem when it comes to parking due to land prices being steep and city’s struggling to cope with the increasing number of commuters everyday. City centre parking is vital for many individuals to allow them to work in the city. Many cities are trying to solve this problem by implementing initiatives like park and ride, and developing metro or tram systems. I believe these initiatives when implemented in conjunction with a redesign of the city centre parking system could alleviate the problem for commuters. Meet Natasha; Natasha works as a locum nurse in and around the centre of sheffield. She lives in a small hamlet outside of the city in the peak district and travels to work on weekdays using her car. Natasha’s job involves travelling around the city centre to different care facilities to help out if they are understaffed or falling behind. She’s often based in different locations each day (or even multiple locations in one day) but most are within the ‘city centre’. Natasha doesn’t often know until the morning where she will be working that day and so does not have much time to plan her parking. Natasha also has an issue with knowing how long she will need to be parked for; she can often get called out to other facilities during her hectic day and has to relocate quickly. She often finds it is more difficult to park at certain times of the day like lunchtimes as opposed to in the morning. Natasha often wonders why parking charges remain at a flat rate even though the demand fluctuates throughout the day.
