Dally's suicide from the cop's perspective
It was a dark night when I got the call. We were assigned to a grocery store robbery. This wasn't too strange because the whole week was full of crimes. Murder, and arson.
The report was that a young man, a hood, was robbing a grocery store. He held the cashier up at gunpoint.
I got there as fast as I could. The man was coming out of the store with the gun in his hand. He was crying. I was scared. I pulled out my gun and shot him.
I shot him. He looked at peace. I just stood there. Some kids gathered around him. His friends probably. I don't know what I've done.
I feel guilty. But not for killing him. He was a criminal. I felt bad for his friends. Everyone he left behind. I have no idea what was going on in their lives and I just made it worse.
I will never forget this night.
