  • On the 6th of February 1840, many people signed the Treaty of Waitangi. The first person to sign this Treaty was the Maori chief Hone Heke. This was a treaty that was over the land in New Zealand and sharing it equally. Around 40 Maori chiefs had signed it.
  • Gate Pā
  • In New Zealand there were these wars called the musket wars. There was about 3000 battles and raids among the Maori from 1807 to 1837. This type of war was called the musket war because it was when the Maori had the first use of the type of gun.
  • Invasion Of Waikato
  • The Ngāpuhi tribe in New Zealand was known to be one of the biggest tribes. It was a group full of Maori's that all fought together to raid across other tribes. This tribe was known to have raided right across the North Island from 1818-1821.
  • The Northern War
  • In New Zealand one of the significant and well known wars that happened was called Gate Pā or Gate Pa. This started in April 1864 as well as ending in April 1864 in the location of Tauranga. This is a suburb in Tauranga , in the Bay Of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island.
  • In New Zealand there was this thing called the Invasion Of Waikato that began in 1863-1864. This was known to be the biggest and most important campaign of the 19th century in New Zealand Wars. This was between military forces and Maori tribes.
  • In New Zealand, 1845-1846, the Northern War had taken place. This was the first serious challenge to the Crown in the years after the signing on the Treaty Of Waitangi.
