Meeting with lawyers and the courtroom trial
Individual GM dealship mechanics report consistent ignition failures to the GM corporate. The specific failure determined was the ignition was causing the car to turn off (during impact) therefore turning off the airbag.
In 2005, GM executives receive information from their engineers showing that the ignition failure is preventing the airbag from deploying. They don’t take action to address and recall the problem until 2014. In that span of time 114 deaths have been related to the defect... not including ongoing claims
The public is made aware of the problem through the attorney hired by the Sanders family. The Cooper firm, "single-handedly set the stage for this recall." ——— During this scene we will spend the most amount of time laying out the case details.
