  • John Proctor was afraid for his family and what would happen to them when they were accused of witchcraft. John was accused and sentenced to death.
  • Fear and Paranoia
  • Abigail was accused of being a witch as well as Tituba when they were both caught dancing in the woods around a fire. The townspeople thought this was terrible.
  • Witches and Prejudices
  • John wasn't the best example but he tried his best to be a good one. He didn't go to church, but he read his bible and tried to set a good example for his family.
  • Reputation
  • Abigail made lies about people and they were executed for something that they didn't even do. In the end Abigail ran away because she was afraid that if anyone figured out she lied then she would be executed as well.
  • Abigail made everyone believe her because all of the other girls with her apparently saw the same thing that she did. All of the other girls helped make the town believe everything because if they spoke the truth Abigail said the would kill them. So they continued to make lies and accuse innocent people of witchcraft.
  • Judge Danforth did what he thought was best for the type of religion the people believed in and tried to keep a clean community in which the town agreed to.
