I use size to demonstrate the intensity and suddenness of the shots.
I also use Shapes such as a cloud to tell the reader that he is currently thinking, and Rectangles when the story is narrated, but I also use color to distinguish the characters.

The Sniper spots an Armored car heading towards the building he belives he was fired at from
Suddenly an old woman appears around the corner and approaches the car that has now come to a stop.
There is a republican Sniper on the opposite roof
When the sniper sees the old woman point at the building he is currently in he opens fire
He fires two bullets at the informant and the gunman operating the car-mounted turret
The informant and the man operating the turret have been killed
He celebrates his success when suddenly the sniper opposite of him opens fire
The Armored car moves from where the gunman was shot , to reposition itself
The Sniper on the roof opposite of him opens fire and hits him in the arm
