  • All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Glammis!
  • All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!
  • All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor!
  • A prosperous gentleman, and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange intelligence, or why Upon this blasted heath you stop our way With such prophetic greeting. Speak, I charge you.
  • Act II-Anagnoresis (the realisation that Macbeth has done something wrong)
  • Is this a dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.

  • Act III
  • The 3 witches hail Macbeth as a thane of Cawdor, thane of Glammis and King of Scotland. The witches hail Banquo 's descendant will become a king.
  • Act IV
  • Macbeth finally decided to kill King Duncan. He hallucinated about the dagger, which he would use to kill him. After Lady Macbeth gave alcohol to the servants and made them drunk, she called Macbeth into the chamber so he could kill King Duncan.
  • Act V-Peripateria (reversal of fortune)
  • Gracious my lord, I should report that which I say I saw, But know not how to do ’t.
  • Macbeth ordered three murderers to kill Banquo and his son Fleance. Banquo was killed outside the castle but Fleance managed to run away. Banquo's ghost appeared, which scared and frustrated Macbeth.
  • Macbeth then ordered the murderers to kill Macduff's wife and son, which they did by stabbing them to death. Macduff had left, prior to this murderous act, to join Malcom to defeat Macbeth.
  • Macbeth's messenger told him that outside the castle the trees were moving, indicating the soldiers were coming. Macbeth's belief that no one born from a women could kill him, made him feel confident that he was safe and would win the battle. Macduff came to the castle and killed Macbeth, paving the way for Malcolm to become the new King of Scotland.
