Bunker Hill Massachusetts June, 1775
Trenton New Jersey December, 1776
Valley Forge Pennsylvania Winter, 1777-78
The Militiamen had original gone to occupy bunker hill and keep the British troops from taking the high ground. The next morning the British troops attacked, the Militiamen were greatly outnumbered. The British troops had failed there first two attempts which lead to great number of loss, but in the third try the British troops had overrun the militiamen. The Battle of Bunker Hill is important because of the fact that the Militiamen had fought off the British troops even though they were greatly outnumbered and were short on ammo, they had still fought until the end.
Battle of Yorktown Virginia 1781
The continental Army had crossed the icy Delaware river on Christmas Day, they surprised the hessian and defeated them in Trenton, New Jersey. The Hessian commander had gotten a message that they would attack he did nothing about it,British general withdrew most his troops. This battle was important because the continental Army were being pushed back into Manhattan, they escaped and fought back and ended up winning the Battle of Trenton.
Women's Role in the Revolution Entire War
The Continental Army had set up camp in Valley Forge which was northwest of the city. The Continental Army had lack of food were suffering from the cold some decided to run away but some decided to stay and keep the battle going, as winter went on others had arrived to help the American cause. The Frenchmen in sharing men’s hardship they had provided uniforms and muskets to those who needed them. As Spring rolled around it was great news for the American cause, to celebrate Washington had lied up his troops in a line and they shot in the air ready for battle. Valley Forge was important because the America side showed no matter how bad it got they were ready for battle they took the winter like camps, even though some of them ran away, lots of them stayed and proved their loyalty, and in the beginning of spring they were read for battle.
War at Sea 1775
The Continental army had won The Battle of Yorktown, they had approached their camp and made Cornwallis surrender. Battle of Yorktown was the last big battle of the war it, after six years after the first shot the British parliament had voted to end the war. The Battle of Yorktown is important because it showed that they weren’t going to give up until they won this going to winning the last biggest battle of the war and the war ending and the Americas getting there freedom.
Before The revolution there were boycotts on British goods going on Mercy Otis Warren became an active in colonial politics. Abigail Adams and Mercy Otis Warren were sharp thinkers skilled writers who had freely voiced their ideas of liberty independence of Women’s rights. Woman took lots of duties at home while war was going on they ran farms, shops, and businesses. Women traveled with troops as nurses they would cook meals, and wash their clothes. The result was women would work farms, shops, businesses, and they would even go to war with soldier as nurses, they would also cook and washer their clothes. They would even be spies they would dress up as maids or they would even cook for the British officer so they could find out information. Women would even take part in combat they would dress up as men to go and fight or simply walk into battle, they weren’t just simply risking their life they were risking getting put in jail of caught. Women didn’t have a defined role in the war but they found ways to be useful. This was important because of the fact that women wanted to get involved was an amazing thing because women didn’t have a defined role but they found way’s to get involved and be apart of what was happening like go with solders to be nurses to cook for them wash their clothes, or to even be spy's or go into combat knowing what was on the line.
The handbill for sailors with experience to sail to Washington. It went on to capture their enemies. The result was they had a couple victory’s for the continental Navy. Jones had moved them to the final stage. This battle was important because it shows that when they needed help they turned to privateers to help them protect their shipping industry and destroy Britain ships.
