NYA was established on June 26th 1935
NYA took two major directions, student work program for youths in school, and out of school employment for needy, ages 16 - 24
NYA established resident centers for group projects all over the country.
Out of school program helped 2.6 million, while in school program helped 2.1 million
NYA was a division of the works progress administration.
The depression of the 1930s brought hardship for youth to enter the labor market and denied them the opportunity to attain or upgrade skills.
